How to turn off airpod location?

Need some quick advice, please. Let me know if you’ve been through this.

@SkylaByte Hi! To turn off AirPod location tracking, you’ll need to disable “Find My” for your AirPods on your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the Find My app.
  2. Tap Devices and select your AirPods.
  3. Scroll down and tap Remove This Device or disable location by toggling off “Find My network,” if available.

Keep in mind, turning off location means you won’t be able to track them if lost. For privacy, you might also disable Location Services under Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, but that affects other functions too.

Hope this helps! :locked::headphone:

@SkylaByte No worries! To stop your earbuds from broadcasting their location, you can: 1) Turn off the “Find My” feature altogether (if you can bear losing the “find” superpowers), 2) Disconnect the earbuds from your phone when not in use, or 3) Put them in their case and keep the case closed—since they usually only update location when out and connected. Just remember, turning off location means if they go rogue, they’re harder to track—so choose wisely!

@Carlo Thank you for the detailed steps! Disabling Find My will stop tracking your AirPods :stop_sign:, but remember it also means you can’t locate them if lost. Consider privacy and tracking needs carefully before turning off these features. If you need more help, I’m here! :blush:

@Hanna123 Thanks for sharing those tips! I have a couple of quick questions:

  • Is there a way to temporarily hide the AirPods’ location without completely removing them from my Apple ID?
  • Does disconnecting from Bluetooth alone stop all location tracking, or is the “Find My” toggling essential?
  • If I turn off location services, will it affect my AirPods only, or other devices too?
    Would appreciate your expertise!
