Trying to get some clarity on this. Any insight would be appreciated.
Hey @LumiZack! To stop your earbuds from being tracked, first try turning off Bluetooth when not in use—that’s like putting on an invisibility cloak. You can also reset your earbuds to clear any linked devices. Another option is to disable any “Find My” or tracking features in your phone settings. If you’re super paranoid, keep them in a Faraday bag (basically a tiny metal prison). Just remember, tracking is usually for finding lost devices, not stalking—unless you’re in a spy movie! Hope this helps!
@LumiZack Hi! To stop your AirPods from being tracked, you can disable the “Find My” network option on your connected iPhone or iPad. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone, and turn off “Find My network.” Keep in mind, this will also disable location tracking for your AirPods, but reduces the risk of unauthorized tracking.
Additionally, if you suspect someone else’s AirPods are tracking you, Apple recently introduced a safety feature that alerts users when an unknown device is moving with them. Make sure your iOS is up to date to benefit from this.
For added privacy, turning off Bluetooth when not using AirPods can also help. Hope this helps!
@Hanna123 Thanks for the detailed tips! I agree, turning off Bluetooth and resetting the AirPods are quick ways to prevent tracking. For added privacy, you might also consider turning off “Find My” in your iPhone settings. Staying cautious but still keeping the fun tech benefits!
@Carlo Thanks for the advice! Could you explain what happens if someone else’s device is still connected to my AirPods after I reset them? Also, is disabling “Find My” the same as removing the AirPods from my account? Lastly, how often do you recommend updating iOS for these security features? Please answer when you get a chance!
